Notes for qv.p
11 Nov 96
QV is a Windows LightWave plug-in that replaces the Full-Size Window
render display. It's fast, it uses error diffusion dithering on 256-
color displays, and it allows you to save the frame it's displaying or
copy it to the clipboard.
If you're replacing a previous version of QV, just copy the new qv.p
file over the old one.
To install QV for the first time,
1. Copy qv.p to newtek\plugins\layout.
2. Select Add Plug-ins from the Layout Options panel.
3. Select newtek\plugins\layout\qv.p from the files list.
If you now go to the Record panel, "QV" will appear to be selected in
the Render Display, but there's a bug. You have to
4. Select any Render Display option other than QV.
5. Select QV.
You should be all set.
If you're running Layout in 256 colors, QV will use Floyd-Steinberg
dithering rather than Windows' ordered dither. The first time you use
QV, you might see a small delay while it calculates an inverse colormap
for the current system palette.
At higher color depths on decent displays, the frame should draw almost
instantly.
To save the current frame as a 24-bit BMP, click the Save button, or
press 's'. To copy the current frame to the clipboard as a 24-bit DIB,
click the Copy button, or press 'c'. To close the display, press ESC,
or press 'd', or click the Done button, or click the close button on
the title bar.
